Biography: Dr. William Novick as a Assistant Professor in Division of Cardiac Surgery (pediatric cardiac surgery at LBCMC), promoted and Tenure gained in 1999 to Associate Professor and named Paul Nemir, Jr., M.D. Professor of International Child Health, promoted to Professor of Surgery 2000. Founded 2 501c3 non-profits to provide pediatric cardiac surgery and care to children in LMIC. In July 2001 was allowed by Dean of UTHSC-SOM to spend full-time as the Nemir Professor providing pediatric cardiac care and education to needy institutions in LMIC. Dr. Novick has operated in 34 countries outside the United States and has organized or taken teams to more than 50 institutions operating on nearly 10,000 children and educating hundreds of surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, cardiologists and nurses. Academically active he has published over 60 book chapters and peer-reviewed articles as making over 100 presentations at major National and International Conferences.
